Why do you even care about local retailers, when they don't care about you Tomby?
Kmart, Myer, Target, David Jones, Toys R Us, Big W, etc....all refusing to stock your precious Vita.

We don't have any of those stores in New Zealand, so I couldn't care less!

Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
So my 3DS power pack isn't multi voltage switching (110/240). Making it the only bit of gear that won't travel well to the States. Oh and of course I can't pick up a game over there for the flight back either.
Well fucking done Nintendo! A non travelling portable device!
May aswell pick up a vitapad over there in the bargain bin at least it will have more games available than PAL 3DS's!

Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
Just tried co-op mode and it could have been better. The level layouts work well with two players (and silver Luigi is awesome), but the camera locks to one player and forces the other into a bubble if they run ahead or dawdle behind. A necessary mechanic in NSMB Wii, but I can't see why it's present here when each player has their own screen. Maybe there's just no incentive to hang around the other player without it?
Also disappointing to note that there's no download play whatsoever. I'd rather something like the competitive multiplayer in NSMB1 over this co-op mode.

Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
I found the 2 player of NSMB2 not up to par. It feels like it plays the way it would if it was a download play tacked on two player mode, but seeing as it requires 2 copies of the game, each player should be able to have their own screen rather than fighting for control of the screen. If it zoomed out like the Wii game it might be ok but it doesn't. So yeah, not impressed with that part of the game, and I'm not impressed with the reused music and backgrounds and sprites, but I am still enjoying the game. Level design is top notch.

Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
Yeah I've been playing co-op with a friend and the screen problem is really bad. On a Wii it's a given, but we have our own screens for this! It really takes away from the game we're finding. Sigh.
Other than that I don't think there's much else to this game. It's so by the books, even for a Mario game. It's still fun but the whole coin focus seems like a side thought. Plus I'd love some new art direction in a Mario game. I was never really fond of NSMB visually. But I just think I want a fully sprite based 2D Mario game.

A new 2D Mario with graphics similar to Wario Shake Dimension would be excellent. It's still one of the best looking Wii titles.

Or you could travel to and fro between New Zealand and Australia. We have the same lacking software on the shelves as you do.General Chaos wrote:So my 3DS power pack isn't multi voltage switching (110/240). Probably the smartest thing you've said since "I'm buying an MR2".May aswell pick up a vitapad over there in the bargain bin at least it will have more games available than PAL 3DS's!

Ah well I found a pov spec car/usb charger that EB threw in when I got my 3DS, so was just going to use it with an iPad charger.

Make sure it works, I had issues using a USB power plug and certain USB leads not working with it. ISSUES!

Seems to have done the job. Still more likely to pick up a vitapad for the return trip.
Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
So umm, yeah, noes that the XL whimpered it's way to release without much of a bang, and NSMB2 is the last "big" 3DS game to hit for a while now until Paper Mario Sticker Star, im wondering what there is to look forward to. I know I'll have Pokemon Black 2 to look forward to between then, but that's a DS game. I'm feeling a rather quiet Xmas season for all things 3DS.

Future games list please.

You should consider buying Rayman Origins. I had a go at it this afternoon, and it's a lot of fun.The Adza wrote:So umm, yeah, noes that the XL whimpered it's way to release without much of a bang, and NSMB2 is the last "big" 3DS game to hit for a while now until Paper Mario Sticker Star, im wondering what there is to look forward to. Concerning other games towards the end of 2012, Paper Mario Sticker Star looks like a must buy, but there are plenty others before Christmas like Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Code of Princess, etc.
2013 will be phenomenal with the likes of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Monster Hunter 4, Legend of Zelda (Nintendo have confirmed there are two in development for 3DS..... an original and a remake), Castlevania: Mirror of Fate, Animal Crossing: Jump Out, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (Square Enix RPG), Fire Emblem Awakening, Super Smash Bros, Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney etc...and those are just some of the ones we know about. I'm guessing there is going to be a lot of 3DS games unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show next month.

Rayman Origins the best 2d platformer this generation....
Why waste that experience on the only inferior version available....The Nintendo 3ds
Why waste that experience on the only inferior version available....The Nintendo 3ds
The problem we have with this belated conversion is not how it plays but how it makes us feel. When playing the console version we get a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that one of the largest publishers in the world is still brave enough to release a 2D platformer, when in this day and age most shoot ’em ups are guaranteed to sell millions. When playing this version though, we can’t help but think, “Ubisoft are just releasing this on 3DS to make a few extra bucks, aren’t they?”
Imagine playing the lovely PS Vita version with Vaseline smeared over the screen. Also, Rayman is minuscule in some places – barely more than a few millimetres high.
The best 2d platformer this generation must be played how it was intended your only choices are on the Vita, PS3 or 360it’s easily the worst version of a very good game. I guess we should just be thankful that Ubisoft aren’t charging full price for it.

Actually Gutterbreath, you're forgetting the best version of Rayman Origins - it's on PC.
But as you enjoy Rayman platforming, I assume you are highly anticipating Rayman Legends, a Wii U launch title, also exclusive to Wii U.
So sorry, but "your only choices are Wii U, Wii U, and Wii U"
It sure is pretty, isn’t it?
New Super Mario Bros. U, Rayman Legends, Nintendo Land, Zombi U, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Project P-100, heck even Lego City Undercover – Wii U sure is getting some mighty impressive exclusives for launch.

I'm going to get rid of NSMB2 once I've finished it. What a jaded game it is.
Re: Nintendo 3DS XL & New Super Mario Bros. 2 - OUT NOW!!!!!
Try launch "window" Roc.
I think everyone knows Legends will be multiplatform, and a timed exclusive at best, but keep trying etc etc etc.

Yeah there's no chance of it being Wii U exclusive for long. That would be like being Dreamcast exclusive back then.
